Two people are dead and six people were injured after three traffic accidents in a 4-1/2-hour span Monday in Kosciusko County.

Paul K. Miller, 85, of North CR 400E, Warsaw, died at Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne, from injuries suffered in the 6:40 p.m. accident at the intersection of CRs 400E and 200N, east of Warsaw.

According to information obtained from the Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department, Miller was riding a four-wheeler northbound along CR 400E when he turned in front of a van driven by Beverly Blue, 57, of North CR 475E, Leesburg.

Blue, who was southbound on CR 400E, told police she saw the off-road vehicle along the roadway and slowed down as she approached it. Miller then apparently turned in front of Blue's van. Two witnesses also said Miller turned into the path of the van.

It was not known whether Miller was wearing a helmet.

In a 7:29 p.m. accident at the intersection of CRs 100N and 450E, east of Warsaw, six people were ejected from a car when the vehicle left the roadway and rolled several times.

A back seat passenger, Tara Likens, no age available, North Webster, was airlifted from the scene to Parkview in critical condition. She died this morning as a result of her injuries.

According to the KCSD, the driver of the car, Dexter Lee Anglin, 17, of Syracuse, was driving at an excessive speed when he lost control of the car 600 feet west of CR 450E. The vehicle traveled out of control through the intersection, police said, before it left the roadway and rolled over in a field.

Anglin and three other passengers: Charles Brock, 18, Syracuse; Zack Jones, 17, Leesburg; and Joseph Kliev, age and address not available, all were treated at Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw, and later released.

Another rear seat passenger, Kristen Brown, 18, of Warsaw, suffered unspecified injuries and was admitted to KCH, where a condition report was not available.

A LaPorte woman injured in a 3:09 p.m. accident is listed in critical condition at Parkview, where she was airlifted after first being taken to KCH.

Carolyn P. Coulter, 60, suffered unspecified injuries in the accident at the intersection of CRs 700W and 850S, near Yellow Creek Lake.

According to the KCSD, Coulter was northbound on CR 700W and was slowing or stopped in the roadway when her car was rear-ended by a car driven by Shannon G. Davis, 24, of Claypool.

Police cited excessive speed by Davis as a factor in the accident.

Davis refused medical attention at the scene and he was arrested on an outstanding warrant that was not related to the traffic accident.
