ETNA GREEN- Two Marshall County children were critically injured Friday in an Amish buggy incident in Kosciusko County. Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Deputies and emergency personnel responded Friday to the location of 6955 West, CR 650N, Etna Green, after receiving a 9-1-1 call at approximately 2:28 p.m. Responders arrived and located a 3-year-old female as well as a 1-year-old female that had been injured severely after being dragged underneath a buggy/carriage. According to KCSD Corporal Chris Rager, the mother of the children, Barbara Miller, 9B Road, Bourbon, had been preparing to leave the residence of 6891 North, CR 750W, Etna Green, when the horse suddenly backed up causing the buggy/carriage to flip onto its side. The two small children had been placed inside the buggy/carriage and had slid to the open area and were trapped as the horse then began to drag the carriage for approximately 50 yards on the stone driveway. After stopping the horse, the two girls were removed and the Amish families immediately attempted to call and seek for emergency medical help at the CR 650N location. Both children were hot loaded from that location and airlifted via helicopter to Parkview Regional Trauma/Medical Center in Fort Wayne. They are both listed in critical condition.
