MILFORD - Two people were arrested Friday after allegedly battering a Milford man at his residence and demanding money from him.
John R. Riddle Jr., 33, of North CR 300W, Milford, told police that his ex-wife, Lela Robin Riddle, 31, of North CR 300W, Milford, and her boyfriend, William L. Geisleman, 37, Plymouth, were inside his residence when he came home about 3:30 p.m. Friday.
Mr. Riddle told a Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department deputy that the suspects choked, hit and kicked him while threatening to kill him if he didn't give them all his money. He said he had gotten paid and that his ex-wife knew it was his pay day.
The fighting reportedly occurred throughout the residence, with furniture being overturned during the incident.
The victim was able to get away and call police from a neighbor's house after Geisleman allegedly threw him through a window of the residence.
Mr. Riddle was treated at Kosciusko Community Hospital for multiple cuts to his arms and hands.
After Riddle fled his residence, Lela Riddle and Geisleman left the area. They were later apprehended in Marshall County.
During initial questioning, Lela Riddle denied that Geisleman was at the residence and reportedly claimed that her ex-husband threw himself out of the window in an attempt to set her up and gain custody of their children. When police told Lela Riddle that a witness other than her ex-husband had seen Geisleman's car there, she declined to comment further and requested a lawyer.
Geisleman also denied being at the Riddle residence and requested an attorney after police asked him what a lie detector test would say if he answered the same questions.
Geisleman is being held in the Kosciusko County Jail in lieu of $50,000 bond on charges of strong-armed robbery, burglary and being a habitual offender.
Lela Riddle is charged with strong-armed robbery and burglary. She is being held on $25,000 bond.
