The Kosciusko County Republican Party has received two applications to fill District 5 Councilman Bill Rhoades' seat on the Warsaw City Council.
Rhoades died Aug. 26. A caucus will be this week to replace Rhoades, according to Aaron Rovenstine, Kosciusko County Republican Party chair. He said the party received applications last week from Dan Hampton and Carl Sowers. The deadline for candidates to apply for the seat was Friday.
"I am very pleased with the applicants who are both very qualified candidates," Rovenstine said during a telephone interview this morning.
Warren Tatter, District 5-1, and Josh Spangle, District 5-2, will select the person to fill the seat.
If the vote is tied, Rovenstine will vote to break the tie.
