TVHS Promotes Healthy Relationships

Posted

What does a healthy relationship look like? That question was recently posed to Human Development and Family Wellness students at Tippecanoe Valley High School. After doing some research and examining the facts, the students determined that healthy relationships revolve around the demonstration of respect, trust, accountability, constructive communications skills, kindness and the sharing of power. Students were challenged by FACS instructor Debra Zawlocki to educate their fellow students about healthy relationships. While creative ideas abounded, Cassondra Crider and Shelby Warren baked cookies for every student at TVHS. They wrote kind, motivational statements about healthy relationships on hundreds of baggies, baked nearly 800 cookies and bagged them up, then distributed all of them to their fellow students. They asked their fellow students to write brief comments about receiving cookies. Two others, juniors Brooke Danner and Kierra Ryman, also reached out to the middle school by composing a week-long set of announcements about healthy relationships.
