WABASH - Playing the second half without coach Scott Bibler, Tippecanoe Valley defeated Three Rivers Conference foe Southwood 28-7 Friday. Southwood's football team came in ranked No. 3 in 1A.
In a strange series of events in the second quarter, Bibler was ejected, and under IHSAA rules, will not be allowed to coach in next week's homecoming battle with Northfield.
The Vikings scored first Friday, with B.J. Cunningham returning a punt 68 yards in the first quarter. Josh Carter added two scores, a 3-yard run in the opening quarter and a 1-yard plunge in the final frame. Valley's other score came on a 7-yard pass from David Beyers to Chris Mitterling in the third quarter.
The Vikings outgained the powerful Knights 257-35 on the ground. In total offense, Valley drubbed Southwood 275-93, tallying 15 first downs to six for the Knights.
Valley is 4-0 overall and 2-0 in the TRC. Southwood falls to 3-1 and 1-1.
