Trying To Do Better

My name is Bruce Tillman Jr. I am 20 years old. I am currently incarcerated at Westville Correctional Facility.

Since I have been incarcerated I have lost my father, Bruce Tillman Sr. That has had a big impact on my life. I now realize what I did to get myself here is wrong. Everyday that goes by I think about why I did what I did and the answer that I keep coming up with is one word, "stupidity". I was not thinking when I committed those crimes. There is no excuse for what I have done. I do want to apologize for what I did. I am taking full responsibility for my actions.

I am now enrolled in the PLUS Program (Purposeful, Living, Units, Serve). In this program I am learning how to be a better person, in many different ways. The core values of life that I am learning about are: respect, honesty, responsibility, compassion and tolerance. This program has opened my eyes and has made me look at life from a totally different angle. I am going to leave here a better man; with a better outlook on life.

I am missing out on the best parts of my 8-month-old son's life. This is not worth missing out on your loved one's lives. I am never going to get this time back with my son.

I have let a lot of people down including myself ... My word of advice is that nothing is worth missing previous time with loved ones. Make the best out of your lives!
