SOUTH WHITLEY – Roland King, 74, of South Whitley, has been charged with three counts of official misconduct, a Class D felony, and three counts of battery, a Class B misdemeanor.
He was booked into the Whitley County Jail Monday afternoon and released on a $40,500 bond.
King, the Cleveland Township trustee, allegedly touched three women inappropriately at the trustee’s office on Whitley Road between June 10, 2011, and June 11, 2012. Complaints were made to the South Whitley Police Department and followed up by the Indiana State Police Criminal Investigation Division from Fort Wayne.
ISP detective Kevin Smith has been investigating the allegations since late June, according to a statement. He was assisted by the South Whitley Police Department officers and members of the Whitley County Prosecutor’s Office.
According to the Fort Wayne Journal-Gazette, King told the newspaper he has no intention of resigning his position as township trustee.
He was also quoted as denying the charges against him.
