Trump Supporters Plan Regular RalliesEvery Wednesday at 5 p.m. and every Saturday at 1 p.m., motorists driving by the corner of Detroit and Center streets in downtown Warsaw can expect to see some flags.
Most of those flags will have President Donald Trump’s name on them, as supporters of Trump’s vow to show up loyally to support the president and the country.
“I’m really tired of places burning down,” Staci Howard, from Albion, said Wednesday. “This is to show that that’s what we care about. Getting things right again.”
Jack Howard echoed his wife’s sentiments and said, “We love our country, and we want to see great things happen. Trump’s the only one who’s gonna bring it.”
Jerry Mullins, of Claypool, is one of the handful of organizers of the planned Trump honking rallies.
“It’s just getting started,” he said of Wednesday’s third flag-waving Trump rally. “We need to leave Trump in office and make sure he stays there,” Mullins said, warning that if Joe Biden and Kamala Harris were to get elected in, “All the good work that Trump’s done is gonna be flushed down the drain.”
Mullins said “99% of (the reaction by passersby), it’s all good.” Or, as Marcy Sterk, of Warsaw, put it: “More thumbs up than flip offs.”
Jeff Puterbaugh, of Mentone, said this was his second time showing up to the flag-waving rally as he waved a sign with Trump’s name across it that read, “No more bull****.”
“It’s a lotta horns and some birds, but that’s all right,” Puterbaugh said of reactions.
Joe Shepherd is from Warsaw and Wednesday was his first time coming out, but he was ready to recruit folks to join them.
“It’s time to stand up for what’s right,” he said. “All they’ve done is try to destroy Trump,” he said of the Democrats. Shepherd said he’s a registered Democrat and has always voted that way.
“But I’m never gonna vote Democrat again. I’m done,” he said. “I?don’t agree with everything that Trump says, but he has done a lot for this country in the last four years.”
