Trucker Refuses To Show ID; Ends Up In Jail

Posted
A Virginia-based trucker was jailed overnight after refusing to provide identification to Warsaw police during a traffic stop for running a red light on U.S. 30 midday Tuesday.
Joseph Ray Neighbors, 49, of Rossburg, Va., was pulled over near the Ind. 15 overpass on U.S. 30 just before 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, after his tractor-trailer was spotted by Warsaw police officer Clay Layne running a red light then failing to yield to a passing emergency vehicle.
When Layne pulled Neighbors over, the officer’s report states that Neighbors refused to provide identification, then resisted being arrested.
Other law enforcement was called in, and Neighbors was taken into custody. His 1998 Kenneth Conventional semi was impounded.
Neighbors is being held in lieu of a $350 bond at the Kosciusko County Jail on a preliminary charge of failure to identify. The James C. Owen Trucking Co. driver has not bonded out as of press time.
