I don't even know how to begin this letter. I am too awestruck right now. I realized that our care packages would be put to good use. I never dreamed they would be appreciated as much as they obviously have been. In today's mail I received another letter from a Marine in Iraq. This community is so special, to continue to bring in items for the care packages, to hold those that are serving in our military in their thoughts and prayers. It is not going unnoticed. Here is an excerpt from the letter I received today:
"I want to thank you and all the other individuals for the support and the efforts you have put forth in helping myself and others that are currently in Iraq. It is greatly appreciated and we are very thankful ... Everyday here in Ramadi and other cities progress is being made. The living conditions for the citizens of Ramadi continue to improve. They are keeping their own neighborhoods safe. Their sons are now volunteering to work for the police so much so, some are being turned away. They don't stop when turned away, they then start their own neighborhood watch. They also are no longer afraid to come to us and ask for help and tell of insurgents hiding near their homes. All of these improvements are only possible due to the support we receive from back home. Some days it's an obvious struggle, but those are heavily out numbered by the days we move forward and continue to look to the future ... Again, I thank you for all the support you and others have shown and put forth, and we greatly appreciate the care packages you have sent!
Semper Fi,
Sgt Samantha Fredrickson"
