On Nov. 5, Boy Scout Troop 715 held an “Eagle Scout Court of Honor” at the Trinity United Methodist Church, East Center Street, Warsaw.
The formal ceremony was held for Aaron Jones and Cameron Sumwalt (parents are Dan and Jamie Lynn Sumwalt) and Jonathan Skaggs (son of John and Renea Skaggs).
Senior Patrol Leader Nick Hawn welcomed the guests and his father, ASM Joe Hawn, led the Invocation.
Scoutmaster Dick McCleary introduced the Eagle Honor Guard consisting of Eagle Scouts Landon Slone, Kyle Smith and Trent Sumwalt. Life Scout Kole Smith introduced the special guest speaker, Warsaw City Councilman Dr. Joe Thallemer.
Boy Scouts Will Bibler, Bryston Canada, Nick Hawn, Dyllan Hernandez, Cameron Ingle, Dillon King, Zachary Laureano, CJ Skaggs, Wyatt Slone, Kole Smith, Jordan Timbers and Adam Zawadzkas conducted the first part of the “Lighting of the Eagle Trail” ceremony. Then that ceremony was finished by adult leaders Scoutmaster Dick McCleary, Committee Chairman Keith Lafountain, Committee member Mike Canada, Advancement chairman Scott McClintock and ASM Joe Hawn.
The new Lincolnway District Scout Executive Mike Skeens gave the “Eagle Charge” and introduced Jones, Sumwalt and Skaggs as the area’s newest Eagle Scouts.
Scout mother Kathy Smith read the “Eagle Mom’s Poem,” then Lafountain and McClintock pinned the Eagle Ribbons on the new Eagle Scouts.
Some of letters of congratulations received were from President Barack Obama, former President George Bush, Governor Mitch Daniels, U.S. Senator Dick Lugar, Indiana Congressmen Ryan Mishler and David Wolkins, Warsaw Mayor Ernest Wiggins and the Winona Lake Town Council.
After the ceremony was concluded, a reception was held in the church basement.
