Area Boy Scout Troop 715, which meets at the Warsaw First Christian Church, recently held an advancement ceremony.
The Scouting program is built around the idea of boys advancing their knowledge about the things they may face in the coming years in their life. Whether the skills learned are about citizenship, fire-building, plumbing, law, cooking, money management, or just being a good leader, the object of a good Boy Scout group is to try to prepare him for future life events.
To this end, 25 members of Troop 715 earned 65 merit badges so far in 2009, while five advanced in a Scout rank.
The following is a list of the Scouts getting badges, the number earned, plus their current Scout rank: Rex Grissom - 3 (Scout); Erik Hanft - 1 (Tenderfoot); Nick Hawn - 5 (First Class); Jeff Hubert - 3 (Tenderfoot); Tyler Ingle - 3 (Life); Vincent Johnston - 2 (Life); Aaron Jones - 1 (First Class); Chris Kolanowski - 2 (Life); Zachary Laureano - 4 (Scout); Brandon Lee - 1 (Life); Justin Lee - 5 (First Class); Rob Morehouse - 9 (First Class); Jon Skaggs - 1 (Life); Landon Slone - 1 (Life); Wyatt Slone - 6 (Tenderfoot); Kole Smith - 7 (First Class); Kyle Smith - 1 (Life); Cameron Sumwalt - 1 (Star); Trent Sumwalt - 1 (Life); Jordan Timbers - 6 (First Class); Jon Tinkey - 6 (Life); Austin Whitaker - 3 (First Class); Remington Wirebaugh - 1 (Scout); David Zigon - 1 (Life); and Taylor Zigon - 1 (Eagle).
