BOURBON -ÊTriton head coach Rodney Younis said this year's Trojan football squad would be less devoted to the run and more pass oriented.

Triton proved that in its season opener at home in a 24-21 win over Caston.

The Trojans were led by the combination of sophomore quarterback Troy McIntyre and junior wide receiver Trent Furnivall. The duo hooked up four times for 115 yards with, Furnivall catching two touchdowns. Chad Kauffman caught five passes for 52 yards and two touchdowns. Anthony Fawcett caught one pass for five yards.

Furnivall was also the leading rusher for the Trojans with 16 yards on seven carries.

Triton scored a touchdown in each quarter but failed to convert on any of the extra points. Lucas Lindsey and Chad Ulmer rushed for 10 and six yards, respectively.

The Trojans, 1-0 on the season, are in action Friday at home against Northfield. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
