Triton Too Much For LaVille

Posted
BOURBON - Adam Creighbaum was all-everything for the Triton Trojans Friday, helping his team to a 25-0 win over the visiting LaVille Lancers.

On the night, Creighbam racked up 150 all-purpose yards, including two rushing touchdowns, one pass reception from quarterback Troy McIntyre. Creighbaum finished the game with 77 yards rushing and 73 yards receiving."Adam Creighbaum is a sophomore and he will just contiue to get better and better. Adam's success is due to Chad Ulmer. Our offense runs through the full back," Triton coach Rodney Younis said.

"Laville keyed on Chad tonight and that helped to open up the outside lanes for Adam," Younis added.

McIntyre threw for two touchdowns and finished with 86 yards passing. Not only did the senior do it with his arm, but he also showed his speed on special teams. To open the second half, McIntyre took the kickoff and went through the center of the field before being tackled by a diving LaVille player, denying him of another score.

"Ulmer, Creighbaum, McIntyre and Reggie Davis have gave us some good games recently. This will allow us to continue to get better and be ready for sectional play," Younis said.

The Triton defense held the Lancers to a four-and-out series to start the game. LaVille was called for an off sides penalty. On the next play Creighbaum cut to the outside and was off to the races for the first of his scores.

"This was a rivalry game and both teams were hitting hard. It was a tough physical game for both teams," Younis said.

LaVille's Aaron Bettcher ran through the Triton defense for 105 yards on 26 carries. He also threw a 17-yard pass to Alex Ronan for a first down on a fake punt late in the game.

"That Bettcher kid is a heck of a player and we knew that going in, we just prepared for him to play at the quarterback position and he came out in the half back position. We had to make some adjustments on defense on the fly," Younis said.

LaVille's offense continued to drive down the field throughout the game, but the Triton defense would come up with timely stops when it was needed. One of the plays came on a fumble recovery by Stanley Cripps deep in Trojan territory.

Triton came out in the second half after McIntyre's kickoff return and put the game out of reach.

McIntyre threw a short screen pass through the middle to Creighbaum. Creighbaum ran 58 yards through the middle and then cut to the outside and out ran the Lancer defense for his third score game.

"I told the team at half time that the first five minutes of the third quarter would be the most important of the game. I told them a touchdown would give us some breathing room. Three plays in we score," Younis said.

Triton's total offense put up 258 yards and Laville put up 173.
