Triton, Tippecanoe Valley Softball Seasons End

OSSIAN -ÊThe Tippecanoe Valley softball team ended its season Monday with a 7-1 loss to Bluffton in the Class 2A Norwell Sectional.

The Vikings took a 1-0 lead in the first inning, but the Valley offense could not produce another run through the remainder of the game. Kathy Prater lead the Vikings with a triple, while Tara Baker added a double for Valley.

Valley ended the season 6-18.

Monday in Bremen

The Triton softball team ended its season Monday at the Class A Bremen Sectional when the Trojans fell to the host Lions 11-0 in five innings. Janell Salisbury led the Trojans with their only hit of the game, a double. Triton ends the season 4-23.

Monday in LaGrange

The NorthWood softball team got a win when it counted Monday in the Lakeland Class 2A Sectional. The Panthers defeated Prairie Heights 4-3 to get their second win of the season. Angie Zentz led the NorthWood squad with two hits, including a double. NorthWood, now 2-26, will face Angola (7-19) at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the next game of the sectional.

BASEBALL

Warsaw 5, Luers 4 (8 innings)

Warsaw 9, Luers 7

The Warsaw baseball team hosted Fort Wayne Bishop Luers in a Saturday doubleheader and swept the Saints 5-4 (8 innings) and 9-7.

In game one, the Tigers took a 4-3 lead after a four-run second inning and held it until the fourth when Luers knotted the score at 4-all. Warsaw scored one run in the bottom of the eight to get the first win.

In the second contest, Warsaw was down 7-5 when Craig Lankford pounded a two-run single in the bottom of the sixth to give the Tigers a lead. Michael Barger led the Warsaw squad with two home runs and five RBIs in the game.

Warsaw is now 16-10 overall and will host Fairfield at 4:30 this evening.

Valley Wins Laville Invitational

Saturday in Plymouth

Tippecanoe Valley's varsity boys golf team won Saturday's LaVille Invitational, shooting 321 at Swan Lake Golf Club. Glenn was second with a 326. Viking junior Drew Shafer won medalist honors with a 74 on the par-72 course. Valley will be in action again Saturday in the Warsaw Sectional at Rozella Ford.

Saturday in North Manchester

Manchester's varsity boys golf team hosted and topped undefeated Three Rivers Conference rival Oak Hill Saturday. The Squires shot a 165, while the Eagles finished with a 170. Manchester freshman Joey Zapf earned medalist honors with his 37. The Squires are now 11-6 on the season and will be in action Wednesday against Churubusco.
