Triton Tennis Team's Loss To Plymouth Leads Roundup

BOURBON — The Triton boys tennis team won a couple matches, but couldn’t pull out the win against Plymouth. Hosting the Plymouth Pilgrims Wednesday, the Triton Trojans fell 3-2, dropping their season record to 3-2 in the process. In the team loss, Dean Howdeshell was victorious at No. 2 singles, defeating Tom Felke 6-2, 7-6 (4). Also for the Trojans, the No. 1 doubles tandem of Jeff Ross and Pete Kauffman bested Jack Holloway and Matt Flynn, 6-2, 6-3. Triton is right back on its home courts tonight, hosting Whitko before heading to Bethany Christian Saturday. PLYMOUTH 3, TRITON 2 SINGLES: No. 1 — Gabe Vervynckt (P) def. Hitting the road to face District 1’s No. 3 squad, the Warsaw boys tennis team fell 4-1 Wednesday at Culver Academies. Warsaw’s victory came from Connor Singrey and Will Petro at No. 2 doubles. The Culver Girls Academy got a 192-200 home win over Wawasee Wednesday in Culver. CGA’s McKenzie Toth was the medalist with a 41, while Wawasee’s top score was a 50, shot by Elizabeth Jackson. The Wawasee Lady Warriors host a three-team, Northern Lakes Conference match today, welcoming Northridge and NorthWood to Maxwelton Golf Club.
