BOURBON - Triton's volleyball team set a school record for wins in a regular season, 25, with a 15-5, 17-19, 15-8 Monday win over Wawasee.
The Trojans are 25-7 entering their 9 p.m. Thursday sectional match against Westville at Oregon-Davis.
Jennifer Weissert had 12 kills and two aces for Triton. Chris Scott had 12 kills and nine digs.
Jessica Kintzel had 11 kills. Heather Barron paced Triton with 17 assists, while Kendra Blackford added 14. Barron was also 17-for-17 serving with two aces. Missy Nifong led with eight blocks, and Jamey Bell added six.
Lydia Carpenter paced Wawasee's attack with 12 kills and eight blocks, while Sara Frantz delivered 27 assists.
Triton won the junior varsity match 14-16, 15-7, 15-3. Janell Salisbury led Triton with seven kills, while Rachel Speicher and Betsy Salyer added six each. Brandie Ganshorn was the assists leader with 19. Emily Yankovich had five aces. Triton's junior varsity team is 14-4.
Emily Cline had four kills for Wawasee.
The varsity Warriors, 17-16, meet Angola in the West Noble Sectional at 11 a.m. Saturday.
Valley Def. Southwood 15-13, 15-6
At Mentone, Tippecanoe Valley's volleyball team improved to 16-15 overall and 4-3 in the Three Rivers Conference with a Monday win over Southwood.
This is the first time in school history that Valley's freshman, junior varsity and varsity volleyball teams have been over .500 at the same time in a season.
Rhonda Doud delivered 23 assists and served three aces for Valley. Brooke Fisher served seven points and two kills. Carissa Parker was 10-for-10 serving with two aces. Andria Parker contributed nine kills, while Brandy Manns had seven blocks and five kills. Brandi Fisher had four kills, while Jennifer Studebaker had five blocks and three kills.
The JV team finished the season with a 13-10 record after a loss to Southwood, 15-8, 8-15, 15-4. Tara Baker had eight points and three blocks, while Lynette Wilcox got three kills and three blocks.
Valley is at the Fort Wayne Concordia Sectional against Elmhurst at 6 p.m. Thursday.
Elkhart Baptist Def. LCA 15-7, 15-2
Elkhart Baptist's volleyball team took care of Lakeland Christian Academy on Monday.
Jenny Leuevett served six points for LCA, while Janelle Sou had a block. Heather Jones had 11 sets.
Elkhart Baptist cruised past LCA 15-2, 15-3 on Monday.
LCA competes in the ACSI Tournament at Anderson on Oct. 17-18.
Soccer
JV: Warsaw Wins Fourth Straight NLC Title
Warsaw's junior varsity boys soccer team captured its fourth straight Northern Lakes Conference title under Erich Laabs on Saturday. The Tigers finished the season 12-4-1 overall.
Warsaw blanked both teams it played. The Tigers shut out Northridge 2-0 in the championship. Warsaw's Brad Hainley had crucial saves for the Tigers in the first half. Jay Stahly scored Warsaw's first goal in the second half, while Chris Metz scored the last goal on an assist by Adam Pifer.
Warsaw beat Concord 1-0 in a shootout in the first round. The game ended at 0-0 at the end of regulation and 0-0 at the end of the five-minute overtime. Cocoy Santillana, Pifer and Chad Fisher delivered goals in the shootout. Fisher had the winning goal. Concord scored two goals, but Warsaw goalkeeper Rudy Ramirez sealed Warsaw's win by saving a goal.
Manchester Def. North Miami 7-15, 17-15, 15-8
At Denver, Manchester's volleyball team finished the regular season as the TRC co-champion by beating North Miami on Monday. The Squires finished 5-2 in the TRC, guaranteeing them a portion of the conference title.
The Squires, who were 7-24 last year, turned that around into an 18-13 record this season.
Michelle Gerber had nine kills, six blocks, six digs and an assist for the Squires. Natalie Stambaugh had five aces and five digs. Jodie Peden had 10 blocks and four kills. Luciana Leao had seven kills, Greta Miller eight blocks and Megan Eckert 15 assists.
Manchester beat North Miami 9-15, 15-5, 17-15 in the junior varsity match. Kasie Zile had 13 assists for the Squires, while Krista Micheal had nine kills and seven service points. The junior varsity Squires ended the season with a 7-13 record.
Manchester meets Southwood in the first round of the North Miami Sectional at 6 p.m. Thursday.
