NORTH MANCHESTER - The No. 9 (A) Triton girls volleyball team knocked off three opponents at the Manchester Tournament on Saturday, dropping just one set on their way to a 3-0 day.
Triton defeated Caston 15-4, 15-5 and Manchester 14-16, 15-9, 15-3. The Trojans closed out the tournament with a 15-7, 15-12 win over Valley.
Heather Barron had 35 assists in the three matches and Megan Sarber had nine aces on 38 of 40 serving.
Sarber was named MVP of the tournament.
Manchester went 2-1 with a 15-7, 17-15 win over Valley and a 15-10, 15-8 win over Caston, along with the loss to Triton.
Megan Eckert led the Squires with 22 assists and Michelle Gerber had 17 kills during the tournament.
Tippecanoe Valley went 1-2 in the tournament with the losses to Triton and Manchester. The Vikings defeated Caston 15-10, 17-15.
Carissa Parker was 30 of 30 serving with three aces in the tournament and Rhonda Doud added 81 assists. Jennifer Studebaker had 13 kills.
Triton (4-2) will be at Culver on Thursday for a 6 p.m. match. Manchester (4-1) will be at Wawasee today at 6 p.m. and Valley will host Pioneer at 6 p.m. today.
Mishawaka Invitational
At Mishawaka, The Warsaw Tigers girls volleyball team dropped all four matches at the Mishawaka Invitational on Saturday.
Mishawaka defeated Warsaw 17-15, 15-4 in the first game. Nancy Mason had four kills and Karla Bailey added three aces and 10 assists.
In game two, Lafayette Jefferson defeated Warsaw 15-13, 15-12. Mason had eight more kills and Jessica Zaugg had 11 assists.
Warsaw lost a tight match with Carmel 15-17, 15-5, 15-11. Alyssa Raphael had 13 kills and 23 digs in the loss and Bailey had 36 assists.
In the final match, Mishawaka Marian defeated the Tigers 12-15, 15-5, 18-16. Mason had five kills for Warsaw.
Warsaw (2-5) will be at Whitko today at 6 p.m.
Cross Country
Baron Classic Invitational
At Waterloo, The Warsaw boys team placed third overall in the nine team Baron Classic on Saturday. DeKalb led all teams with a 37. Carroll scored an 80 for second place and Warsaw came in a close third with an 83. Manchester placed sixth with a 232.
David Hoffert ended fourth overall for the Tigers in a time of 16:48. Manchester's top runner was Jeremy Stacy with a time of 17:00, good for 14th place.
On the girls side, Warsaw ended fifth with a 126 and Manchester placed sixth with a 132. Carroll won the girls title with a 47.
Shay Knecht placed fifth with a time of 16:13 for Manchester, while Summer Boyd ended sixth with a time of 16:36 for Warsaw.
Warsaw will host the Tiger Invitational today at 5 p.m. while Manchester will be at Huntington North for a triangular meet with Whitko at 4:30 p.m.

Prairie Heights Invitational
At LaGrange, Jeff Moerchen led Wawasee in the 12 team invitational, helping the Warriors to a fifth place finish on Saturday. Moerchen's time of 16:37 was good for 15th overall.
The girls team also placed fifth out of 11 teams. Katie McCauley placed 15th with a time of 16:52. Wawasee will host Columbia City on Thursday at 4:45 p.m.

Triton Splits With Knox
At Bourbon, Triton's cross-country teams opened the 1997 season by splitting with Knox.
The Triton boys lost 43-20, while the Triton girls won 15-50.
Triton placed first in both races. Shelly Miller won with a time of 17:42, while Mason McIntyre won with a time of 18:00. Triton has a 4:30 p.m. meet today at LaVille.

At South Bend, the Wawasee boys soccer team dropped a match to South Bend Riley on Saturday.
With the game knotted at 0-0 25 minutes in, Riley scored after throw-in. Five minutes later, Riley scored after another throw-in and added another goal before halftime for a 3-0 lead.
Wawasee (1-2) will host LaVille on Thursday at 5 p.m.
Girls Soccer
Charger Invitational
At Elkhart, Wawasee split two matches on Saturday at the Charger Invitational.
The Warriors lost to Bethany Christian 1-0 in the first match. In the second match, Wawasee defeated South Bend LaSalle 4-1. It was the first win for the Wawasee girls soccer program. Katie Brown had two goals, while Missy Miller and Jane Wamsley added one goal each.
Wawasee opens conference play on Monday with a match at NorthWood at 4:30 p.m.

At Fort Wayne, Jeremy High had two interceptions, one returned for a touchdown and the other returned 65 yards, but Wawasee dropped a game to Carroll on Saturday.
"We are competitive," Wawasee head coach Reutebuch said. "Jeremy High had an outstanding game, but there is too much ability and people have worked too hard to be just competitive. We need to keep working on fundamentals and start winning some of these games that we all feel we can."
Wawasee (0-2) will host Northridge on Saturday at 10 a.m.

At North Manchester, the Manchester Squires shot their best score of the year and three golfers had personal bests in a triangular meet win on Saturday.
Dorey Bungitak shot a personal best 89 to lead Manchester to the win.
Manchester (6-1) will be at South Shore Golf Course today for a match against West Noble at 4:30 p.m. Valley will be at Maconaquah today for a three team meet with Rochester at 4:30 p.m. and Whitko will be at Churubusco today at 4:30 p.m.
