Triton Spikers Fall To No. 2 Michigan City Marquette

HamleT - Triton defeated South Central in the semi-finals on Saturday morning, but then fell to No. 2 Michigan City Marquette in the Oregon-Davis Sectional on Saturday evening.

In the first match, Triton knocked off South Central 15-13, 15-11. Jenna Weissert had 11 kills and Chris Scott added seven kills and two aces. Megan Sarber had an ace and 10 digs and Kendra Blackford had 10 assists. Jessica Kintzel added five blocks.

In the championship, Michigan City Marquette won 15-13, 15-5. Scott had five kills and was 11 of 12 passing while Weissert had three kills and was nine of 10 serving. Both Blackford and Barron had four assists and Melissa Nifong added four blocks.

"In the first game, we battled well but missed some serves and shot ourselves in the foot," head coach Gayle Perry said. "We had a chance to win the first game. In the second game, we were scrambling for balls and couldn't attack. I felt good about the team's effort."

Triton ends the season with a record of 27-8. The 27 wins sets a new school record, bettering last year's win total of 24.

Whitko 15-11, 15-4

At Fort Wayne, Whitko lost to Carroll in the semifinals of the Fort Wayne Concordia Sectional on Saturday.

Whitko ends the season as the Three Rivers Conference co-champions.
