Triton Pushes Plymouth To Limit

Posted

PLYMOUTH - Plymouth's Kyle Davis hit a key three-pointer early in overtime Tuesday as the Class 3A third-ranked Pilgrim boys basketball team defeated Triton 42-39.

Triton senior Jake Burnett corralled a loose ball and nailed a three at the buzzer, but the referees ruled that the shot was taken after the buzzer.

Burnett led Triton, now 12-7, with 12 points, while Joey Potter added 11 and Josh Moore and Jim Read six each.

Plymouth, now 18-2, was led in the scoring column by Kevin Stuckmeyer's 16 points.

Triton led 23-18 at halftime, but Plymouth outscored the Trojans 17-12 in the second half to knot the game at 35 after four quarters. Plymouth outscored Triton 7-4 in the extra session.

The Trojans will host Rochester Thursday. The game was originally scheduled for Friday, but was moved because of Triton's appearance in Saturday's girls state finals.
