Triton Nominated Among Best Schools

Posted
BOURBON – Triton High School has been nominated as one of the “Best High Schools in America” by Newsweek Magazine, according to a press release from Triton.
The Newsweek ranking highlights the best 2,000 public high schools in the nation – those that have proven to be the most effective in turning out college-ready graduates, the release states.
The list is based on six components: graduation rate (25 percent of the score for ranking), college acceptance rate (25 percent), AP/IB/AICE tests taken per student (25 percent), average SAT/ACT scores (10 percent), average AP/IB/AICE scores (10 percent), and percent of students enrolled in at least one AP/IB/AICE course (5 percent).
Triton has increased the number of AP and dual credit classes that are offered to students in the past few years. Since the 2013-2014 school year, close to 1,700 college credits have been earned by Triton High School students at no cost to students or their families. This has saved Triton families about $700,000 in college tuition, the release states. Triton also has developed an “Early College High School” program.
