BOURBON - Triton School Board members learned Monday that funds they set aside to fix up an old brick wall fell a little short.
Superintendent Rex Roth said the corporation set aside $3,000 to fix up a brick wall on Harris Street this summer. The wall is in front of the area where the old elementary school was previously located. Roth said the plot is now a playground.
Roth informed board members Monday a "ballpark figure" to fix up the brick wall is approximately $25,000.
No decisions were made Monday, only discussion among school board members.
In other business, the board:
Approved the following: a maternity leave request from Eileen Mariani, junior high science teacher; sick leave for Kay Keiser; a resignation from Jan Woudema as the junior high track coach; Sisteen Christian to replace Woudema and Tamra Dominique as a junior high track volunteer.
Granted permission to Roth to apply for state and federal grants.
"We do this every year," Roth said.
Roth informed board members the school corporation received $2,267 in federal snow removal assistance from December.
All board members plan to attend an upcoming regional Indiana School Boards Association meeting in Plymouth.
Roth said the new school bus garage is "pretty well" completed. The school corporation is waiting on a roof warranty - the last item of business with the project.
Roth said the school corporation was given $150 credit for electrical boxes in the garage.
The biannual lunchroom review report was given. Roth said it was a "pretty good report."
The board also accepted several donations for the school's athletic department and approved an art club field trip to Cedar Point June 6.
