Triton Leads Roundup With Win Over New Prairie

BOURBON – A big second quarter helped Triton High School’s varsity boys basketball team open Northern State Conference play with a win Friday night.
Hosting New Prairie, the Trojans outscored the Cougars 20-7 in the second stanza and went on to win 54-36.
With the win, Triton is now 4-3 overall and 1-0 in conference play, while New Prairie fell to 1-2 overall and 0-1 in the NSC.
The Trojans led 9-5 after one quarter of play, 29-12 at halftime and 43-25 at the end of the third quarter.
Skylar Reichert led Triton with a game-high 19 points, while Mason Yeo added 12 points and five rebounds and Joey Corder scored 10 points. Austin Sellers tallied 10 rebounds and five assists for the Trojans.
For New Prairie, Jasen Webb scored 17 points and grabbed nine rebounds, while Luke Ketterer chipped in with 10 points.
Triton is in action again Jan. 2 when it hosts Warsaw.

Friday in N. Manchester
Cierra Carter scored 14 points for Manchester’s varsity girls basketball team. It wasn’t enough, however, as the Lady Squires fell 39-33 to visiting Three Rivers Conference foe Southwood. Celina Carter added six points for the Lady Squires, while Rae Bedke and Bailey Sewell scored four points each. With its third-straight loss, Manchester fell to 4-6 overall and 0-3 in the TRC. Southwood improved to 5-6 and 1-2.
