Triton Leads Roundup With Berth In Sectional Title Game

UNION MILLS — The Triton softball team will be looking to claim its second ever sectional title today at South Central High School. In the semifinals of Class 1A Sectional 51 Wednesday, Triton didn’t have any trouble with Northern State Conference foe Culver, winning 10-0 in five innings. The win puts Triton in today’s championship game against Westville, which defeated South Central 9-7 in 12 innings Tuesday night. In their semifinal victory, the Trojans outhit the Cavs 13-1, led by Krystal Sellers’ three hits, including a home run and a double. Along with the hits, Sellers also had three RBIs, while Hannah Jennings and Brycelyn Garbison each had two. In the pitching circle, Mallorie Jennings had nine strikeouts in just five innings of work. In Class 2A Sectional 37 action Wednesday in Walton, the Manchester softball team fell 3-1 to No. 5 North Miami. North Miami’s Josie Wood struck out 11 Lady Squires in the win, moving on to play host Lewis Cass in today’s championship game. For Manchester, Sydney Jordan went six innings, allowing 10 hits and three runs, while striking out three. The Wawasee baseball team’s season came to a close Wednesday following its 14-4 loss to Fairfield in the opening game of Class 3A Sectional 21. Played at West Noble High School, Fairfield scored two in the first and another seven in the third, building a lead Wawasee couldn’t come back from, falling in six innings. For Wawasee, Drew Anderson hit a three-run home run.
