BOURBON — What was supposed to be a clash of two of the top Northern State Conference teams ended up being pretty lopsided Friday in Bourbon. Hosting the New Prairie Cougars, who had defeated Mishawaka Marian on Nov. 30, the Triton Trojans got a 51-27 win, improving to 4-3 overall and 1-0 in the NSC. Leading 26-21 at the half, the Trojans held the Cougars to three points in the third quarter and another three in the fourth, leading to the blowout. Valparaiso University-bound Clay Yeo continued his stellar senior season, hitting 12 of 16 field goal attempts for 29 points to go with nine rebounds, five blocks and two steals. Junior Tanner Shepherd had 13 points, five rebounds and two blocks in the win, while junior Cody Shively posted six boards in his first game back from a five-game suspension. From the field, Triton shot 57 percent to New Prairie’s 32 percent. The Trojans host the Warsaw Tigers Tuesday night.
