Triton Lauds Glingle

BOURBON - Triton School Corp. Superintendent Carl Hilling presented Board President Kris Glingle a plaque of appreciation for his service on the board from 2005-2008.

Glingle's term ends at the end of the calendar end. Former board member Larry Lemler said, "Thank you, Kris, for your commitment and time to the board, the students, and the community for three years."Dick Trowbridge also thanked Glingle for his tenure.

Hilling expressed his condolences to the family of Sarah Beth King, the 18-year-old senior who was killed in an automobile accident over the weekend.

The Triton School Board approved the bus driver contracts, and the resolution for the Indiana Bond Bank to borrow as needed.

Elementary Principal Jeremy Riffle reported to the board on the $30,000 lap top grant that the school received. Twenty-eight laptops will be used for the second-graders. They will be allowed to take the computers home occasionally. The project is part of a statewide research study to see if and what the benefits are for students to have access to computers.

Bob Ross, assistant principal for the junior-senior high school, invited everyone to attend the spaghetti dinner fundraiser for the senior high tonight from 5 to 7 p.m. Ross also told the board that a student in the MOMD program won $150 at the scarecrow decorating contest at Amish Acres.

The board approved the bonding of Janet Barker as treasurer. This is protocol, and the law requires Barker to be bonded.

The board approved the following classified supervisor contracts: Rich Anders, maintenance director; Janet Barker, treasurer; Kris Berger, transportation director; and Gary Clarkson, technology coordinator.

Also, the junior high is having a food drive, and the Key Club is sponsoring a coat drive.
