Triton Hires Contractor For Work On New Bus Garage

Posted

BOURBON - Triton School Board of Trustees Monday approved Michiana Contracting and Koontz and King Excavating to complete work on a bus garage.

The garage will be built across from Triton High School, 100 Triton Drive, Bourbon.

Cost for the garage is estimated at $193,949. Michiana Contracting will complete the work for the building and Koontz and King will do the excavating work.

Design manager Steve Brettin, Ziolkowski Construction Inc., South Bend, has been working with Triton trustees on the bus garage project. Brettin said he is confident in Michiana Contracting and Koontz and King to complete the work on the garage and it was his recommendation to approve both companies.

Superintendent Rex Roth said the bids are higher than expected but they still fit in the budget. "I think we're up and running," Roth said.

School board members rejected bids submitted July 27, making changes on site and building work and providing new architectural plans. The bus garage project has been ongoing since late last summer and will be used for bus storage.
