Posted
Triton High School boys and girls golf coach Jack Carpenter has been selected to receive the National Federation of State High School Associations 2013 Central Sectional Coach of the Year award for boys golf.
Earlier in the year, Carpenter received the Boys Golf Coach of the Year for the state of Indiana, which made him a candidate for the NFHS National Coach of the Year.
The NFHS recognizes coaches at the state, sectional, and national level. The Central Sectional includes the states of Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan and Wisconsin.
Carpenter was selected among the coaches from these five states as the NFHS Central Sectional Coach of the Year.
His 2013 boys golf team advanced to the IHSAA state finals and finished 14th overall as a team.
Carpenter also had two individuals finish in the top 25 in Ryan Rapp (5th place) and his son Quentyn Carpenter (24th place).
Both Rapp and Quentyn Carpenter made the 2013 Boys Golf All-State Team.
The Triton Athletic Department will recognize Carpenter at the Triton boys basketball game against Mishawaka Marian on Feb. 1.
Rapp and Quentyn Carpenter will also be on hand to be honored and to help Carpenter celebrate this prestigious award.
