HAMLET – In a matchup of top 10 teams in Class 1A, No. 4 Oregon-Davis overcame a slow start and outscored No. 7 Triton 23-8 at the free throw en route to a 53-47 victory in the championship game of Sectional 51. Triton was 8 of 13 at the free throw line in the loss, while the host Lady Bobcats were 23 of 33. The Lady Trojans, who also lost 48-45 at Oregon-Davis on Jan. 4, led 16-9 after one quarter of play and 26-19 at halftime. Oregon-Davis led 37-36 at the end of the third quarter and made 10 free throws in the final period to put the finishing touches on its fifth sectional championship in six years. The Lady Trojans, who finished the season with a 16-6 record, beat Oregon-Davis 62-48 in last year's sectional final. Shana Anderson led Triton with 21 points, while Taylor Hatfield added 12 points and Megan Howdeshell chipped in with seven points. Oregon-Davis, which improved to 20-4 on the season, got a game-high 26 points from Ashley Campbell and 11 from Alishia McIntosh. Jesse Avarone and Haley Collings scored seven and six points, respectively, in the win. Campbell was 13 of 19 at the free throw line. The Lady Bobcats will play Morgan Township (13-10) at 10 a.m. in Saturday's Caston Regional. Top-ranked Fort Wayne Canterbury (21-2) and West Central (18-5) will play in the second regional semifinal game at approximately noon.
