BOURBON — Hitting 57 percent of its field goals Tuesday at home, the Triton girls basketball team defeated the Argos Lady Dragons 53-45, improving its season record to 2-0. Argos' Kayla Prochno was the game's leading scorer and rebounder, with 18 points and nine boards, but Triton junior Shana Anderson hit 7 of 10 shots for 17 points to go with five rebounds and three steals for the home team. Also for Triton, senior Megan Howdeshell hit 4 of 5 shots to score 10 points, while sophomores Taylor Hatfield and Mallorie Jennings were each a perfect 3 of 3, scoring nine and eight points, respectively. Freshman Kylie Mason also had nine points in the win. The Triton Lady Trojans travel to Plymouth Thursday before returning home for a Friday night game against the South Central Lady Satellites. Tuesday in Fort Wayne Taking on the top-ranked team in Class 2A on their home floor Tuesday night, the Warsaw girls basketball team lost 56-31 at Fort Wayne Bishop Luers. Luers put three girls in double-digit scoring, led by Miracle Woods' 17, while the Warsaw Lady Tigers' leading scorer was junior Lindsay Baker, who netted eight. Luers ended the night hitting 22 of 41 shots (54 percent), but the rims weren't as kind to Warsaw, who hit just 10 of 41 (24 percent). The 1-1 Lady Tigers play their third-straight road game Friday at Tippecanoe Valley. GIRLS SWIMMING Tuesday in Warsaw Opening the season up at home against the Culver Girls Academy Tuesday, the Warsaw girls swim team was defeated 112-73. In the team loss, Warsaw did get individual wins from Ariel Werensly in the meter dive, Jessica Haines in the 500 free and Ashley VanWormer in the 100 breast.
