Triton Falls In Triple OverimeBOURBON – Opening a stretch of five consecutive home games, the Triton Lady Trojans lost a heartbreaker to non-conference rival Rochester Wednesday night. Knotted 31-31 at the end of regulation, the teams battled through three overtime periods before the visiting Lady Zebras prevailed 43-39. Triton fell to 3-10 on the season, while Rochester improved to 6-6. The Lady Zebras were 12 of 30 (40 percent) from the field overall in the win, 4 of 15 from three-point range. The Lady Trojans made 15 of 41 (36 percent) attempts, including 7 of 16 from the arc. A major difference in the game was Rochester making 15 of 20 free throw attempts, which helped the Lady Zebras overcome 20 turnovers. Triton had nine fewer turnovers, but was only 2 of 8 at the charity stripe. Nicole Sechrist and Courtney Jennings led the Lady Trojans with 12 points each, while Quinn Downing chipped in with five points, and Hannah Wanemacher and Whytnie Miller scored four points each. Charlotte Morris rounded out Triton’s offense with two points. For Rochester, Kennedy Musselman tallied a double-double with game-highs of 14 points and 11 rebounds. Maci Brown scored 10 points for the Lady Zebras, while teammates Maddie Shively and Morgan Ruff finished with five points each. Triton is in action again Saturday when it hosts Hoosier North Athletic Conference foe Pioneer. Rochester hosts Three Rivers Conference rival North Miami Friday.
