BOURBON – Led by the duo of Grant Johnson and Jordan Anderson, the Triton Trojans turned a 13-point halftime lead into a 19-point win over the Knox Redskins Friday night. Hosting Knox in the regular-season finale for both teams, Triton led 15-8 after one quarter of play, 26-12 at halftime and 42-24 at the end of the third en route to a 53-34 win. Johnson scored a game-high 18 points, pulled down six rebounds and made three steals, while Anderson scored 16 points, grabbed four boards and made three steals. Masen Yeo tallied nine points, seven rebounds, two assists and two steals in the Hoosier North Athletic Conference win. In all, Triton made 15 steals, as the Trojans forced Knox into 19 turnovers. The Trojans, who turned the ball over just 11 times, scored 20 points off the Redskins’ turnovers. Kooper Broeker led Knox with 12 points and five rebounds, while Cade Krueger chipped in with eight points, three steals and a rebound. With the win, Triton improved to 16-7 overall and 6-2 in the HNAC, while Knox fell to 7-16 and 2-6. The Trojans have won nine of their last 11 games, and Friday’s victory gave the Trojans at least 16 wins in a season for the eighth time in nine years as Jason Groves improved his coaching record to 204-65. Triton will host next week’s Class 1A Sectional 51 and play in Friday’s first semifinal game against either North Miami or Culver Community.
