Triton Baseball Team Leads Roundup With Sectional Win

CULVER – With their 14-2 win over Michigan City Marquette Thursday at Culver Community High School, the Triton Trojans advanced to Monday's semifinals of Class 1A Sectional 51. Triton will face the winner of today's game between Argos and Westville at 12:30 p.m. Monday back in Culver. Against Marquette Catholic, Triton jumped out to a 5-1 lead after one inning, then tacked on three runs each in the second, third and fourth innings. Helping Cole Creighbaum get the win, Jayden Hargrove and Gabe McPherron each hit a home run for the Trojans, while Peter Kauffman had a double. TRITON 14, M.C. TRACK Thursday in Fort Wayne Three seniors from Whitko High School competed in the track and field regional at Wayne High School. None of them advanced to next week’s state finals. Connor Stouder led the Wildcats with a fifth-place finish in the 400 and a sixth-place effort in the 200. Tyler Sherwin was eighth in the discus, while Kuyler Bailey finished 12th in the 800. Third-ranked Wayne won the team title with 80 points, while No. 4 Carroll finished second with 75 points and Homestead was fourth with 49. WAYNE REGIONAL (Whitko results) 200 – 6.
