Triton Athletic Hall Of Fame Class Of 2016 Announced

BOURBON – The Triton Athletic Department announced its 2016 Hall Of Fame class will include three athletes a coach an a contributor from the community. The class will be the sixth inducted into the hall. Ashli Senff Faulkner was a ten time varsity letter winner earning two letters in volleyball, four in basketball, and four in track. She received all-conference honors in Volleyball once and Basketball three times. Ashli earned MVP honors in Volleyball in 2002, Basketball in 2002 and 2003, and Track in 2002. Ashli was also the Female Athlete of the Year in 2003. She was a member of the 2002 Volleyball All-State team for class 2A, as well as the Indiana Coaches of Girls Sports Basketball 2nd team all-state, the Associated Press all-state honorable mention team, and is the Triton High School girls basketball career scoring leader with 1,672 points. Sher graduated in 2003 and went on to play basketball at the University of Evansville. Brad Sellers, a 1973 Triton grad, was a nine time letter winner, earning three letters in football, two in basketball, and four in track. He earned all-conference honors in football and basketball. Sellers was the 1972 football team MVP as well as the 1973 basketball team MVP. He was a Marshall County Basketball first team selection in 1973 as well as a 1973 basketball sectional first team selection. Brad qualified for the IHSAA state finals in both the long jump and the 220 yard dash and was named the Male Athlete of the Year for Triton in 1973. The third athlete to be inducted into this year is 1971 graduate Jon Parker. Jon was a seven-time varsity letter winner earning one letter in football, two in basketball, and four in golf. He was named the MVP of the golf team three times. Parker was a member of the 1970 Football team that finished a season best 8-1 under coach Charlie Smith. Former volleyball, basketball, and track coach Jan Caudle will be the fifth coach inducted into the Hall. Coach Caudle was instrumental in starting girls athletics at Triton High School. She taught Health and Physical Education from 1972 until 1986. During that time, Coach Caudle served as the head coach for the volleyball and track teams. She also coached basketball from 1972 to 1976. Coach Caudle’s 1976 team won the first Volleyball Sectional championship in school history. Coach Caudle went on to serve as a principal at Roncalli, DeKalb, Union City Community High School, and West Side Middle School in Union City. Ball Auction and Realty will be inducted as the 2016 Hall of Fame Contributor. Owned and operated by Daryl Ball, the company has been a dedicated contributor to the Triton Athletic Department and has always been generous with contributions to the Triton School Corporation and the Athletic Department through advertising and other means such as sponsoring annual events and activities of Triton. The Hall of Fame weekend will kick off with recognition of these inductees at half-time of the Triton vs. Knox boys basketball game on Feb. 26. The festivities will be continued during the Induction Banquet at 6 p.m. Feb. 27. at the Back Forty Banquet Center in Bourbon. Triton Athletic Director Mason McIntyre will serve as the banquet’s master of ceremonies for the evening. Tickets for the banquet can be purchased in the school’s athletic office beginning Wednesday, Tickets will be $25 per person and will include a meal. Tickets will also be sold at home boys basketball games. The last day for ticket sales will be Feb. 19. The selection committee members were Larry Lemler representing Bourbon, Dave Shively representing Etna Green, Ken Blackford representing Tippecanoe, with Duane Walters, Hal Kuntz, and Roger Schori serving as at-large committee members.
