Triton Advances With 78-45 Win Over Westville

BOURBON - A huge first half helped the Triton Trojans boys basketball team hammer Westville 78-45 in the first round of the Class A sectional at Triton Tuesday.

The Trojans jumped out to an early lead, and after the first frame, they held a 26-13 advantage.

Matt Savill nailed three three-pointers in the second stanza as Triton continued its first-half scoring onslaught and scored another 26 points in the quarter.

At the half, the Trojans led the Blackhawks 52-20.

The Triton squad continued to plug away at the Westville defense as the Trojans scored 11 points in the third.

Going into the fourth quarter, Triton held a 63-30 lead over Westville.

In the fourth, Westville tied Triton's scoring effort with 15, but the Blackhawks could not overcome the 33-point Trojan lead.

In the end Triton came out on top 78-45. The Trojans could have remained scoreless for the entire second half and still would have edged out Westville as Triton scored 52 first-half points.

Savill led all scorers with 17 points. He nailed five three-pointers for the Trojans. Brandon Zeider added 14 points in the Trojan victory.

Triton will face Michigan City Marquette Thursday night in round two of sectional play. Michigan City Marquette defeated Oregon-Davis 75-44 in the second game of the sectional.
