A Milford man facing child molestation charges appeared before a jury Tuesday in the first day of trial in Kosciusko Superior Court. Wesley Lee Melton Jr., 23, originally from Oklahoma, was charged with child molestation of an individual under 14 years of age, a class B felony, in July 2013. Melton is defended by attorney Jay Rigdon. Prosecutors claim that Melton had sexual intercourse with a 13-year-old girl. Melton was living in a residence in Milford at the time. Rlatives had concerns about Melton’s relationship with the girl, based on inappropriate text messages between the two prior to the charge. Melton moved out of the residence in spring 2013. Afterwards, the girl confided in relatives and a family friend that Melton molested her. Milford Police Department was notified shortly after. The jury trial met again this morning and is expected to reach a resolution soon.
