ELKHART – Kosciusko County Sheriff Aaron Rovenstine, along with two others, received trial dates in Elkhart County Superior Court Friday.
Rovenstine, 56, along with Grace College Professor Mark Soto, 61, and convict Kevin Bronson, 56, were arrested on indictment charges from a grand jury Feb. 29. According to Goshen News, Rovenstine’s jury trial will begin Feb. 7. It can carry over to Feb. 14 and 15 if needed. Soto and Bronson both have trials set for Dec. 13.
Elkhart County Superior Judge Evan Roberts will serve as the judge for all three cases as Kosciusko County Judge Michael Reed recused himself in March. Roberts stated that the location of the trials has not yet been decided.
An omnibus hearing for Rovenstine, Soto and Bronson was scheduled for Dec. 1 in Elkhart.
The charges for Rovenstine include bribery, assisting a criminal, official misconduct and intimidation. Soto and Bronson have been charged with intimidation and corrupt business influence.
Special Prosecutor Nelson Chipman of Marshall County is leading the case. Bronson is currently serving one year in Marshall County Jail for cocaine charges. Chipman intends on trying Soto and Bronson jointly.
