KENDALVILLE – The 36th Annual Spring Tri-State Bluegrass Festival will be held over Memorial Day weekend, May 24 through 27, at the Noble County 4-H Fairgrounds in Kendallville.
Sponsored by the Northern Indiana Bluegrass Association, this fun-filled weekend is family entertainment. In addition to the stage shows, there is plenty of music round the camp fires, day and night, and pickers are welcome and encouraged to join in.
There are three large covered areas at the stage and concession stands with a variety of food, novelties, compact discs and tapes. Limited bleacher seating is available, so lawn chairs (low back only) are suggested. Limited parking for persons with disabilities is reserved near the stage area.
Thirteen national, regional and local bands will perform more than 30 hours of high-energy acoustic music on an outdoor stage. The festival features the noted HillBenders from Missouri. Bands performing are: Special Consensus on Saturday and Sunday, Spinney Brothers Saturday and Sunday, HillBenders Saturday and Sunday, Appalachian Grass Friday and Saturday, Pickin’ Up Speed Thursday and Friday, New Outlook Thursday, Zellies Opry House Band Thursday and Friday, Detour Friday and Saturday, No One You Know Saturday and Sunday, Henhouse Prowlers Sunday, Common Ground Sunday, Suzuki Fiddlers Saturday, Band Scramble Sunday. On Thursday there wile be a 4-H fundraising dinner. Saturday there will be free events with ticket including: instrument workshops, conducted by professional musicians; a slow jam session and a two-hour Kid’s Korner with complementary snacks, in the morning. Check the bulletin board for exact times. Sunday will be the Band Scramble. Stage Show times are as follows: Thursday 7 to 10 p.m., Friday 6:45 to 10:30 p.m., Saturday 10:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. and Sunday 11:45 a.m. to 10:15 p.m. A weekend pass for the festival is $25, which includes camping. Limited electric and water is a one-time $5 fee and camping prior to Friday is $10 per night. The daily prices are as follows: Friday $8 per person, Saturday $15 per person and Sunday $12 per person.
