At 11 a.m. Thursday, a tree fell on power lines and a utility pole caught fire along Ind. 25 near Austin Drive in Warsaw.
The fire eventually caused a power outage.
Approximately 1,100 NIPSCO customers – including most of the businesses in downtown Warsaw – lost power, Rick Calinski with NIPSCO said.
Ed Rock, director of Kosciusko County Emergency Management, said the pole will need to be replaced and relined.
"A little over 500 services were out because of the pole fire," Rock said.
Calinski said all customers would have power restored by the early Thursday evening.
Power in the downtown area was restored after about 40 minutes.
