Countless fond memories of an iconic willow tree in Winona Lake have outlasted the tree itself as it fell Monday afternoon into the pond it overlooked. According to Winona Lake Police, the tree fell because its core had rotted through and the ground was completely saturated due to the recent rainfall. The Village of Winona handled removal of the tree. There was no serious damage to the area and no one was injured.
