Staff Report-
Treasures for Troops and The First Freewill Baptist Church of Kosciusko County thank all who participated in the Stockings For Soldiers drive this year. Because of the community’s generosity, 386 stockings were collected and sent to 12 different soldier groups of the various Armed Forces serving in Afghanistan and Kyrgyzstan. The stockings were mailed Wednesday in 22 boxes, averaging 35 to 40 pounds apiece. The total weight of the stockings combined was a little more than 704 pounds. Postage to mail the stockings cost $1,067.30. Keep watching the Treasures for Troops Facebook page (www.facebook.com/treasuresfortroops) for posts about the stockings arrival and pictures that could be sent by the soldiers receiving the stockings. Because of each individual that participated, whether by donating a stocking or by making a monetary donation to help cover shipping costs, 386 deployed soldiers will be hearing from home this Christmas season.
