A recent meeting of principals and athletic directors in the Three Rivers Conference produced a 7-1 vote in favor of inviting Maconaquah and Peru to the league. According to an email from Tippecanoe Valley Athletic Director Duane Burkhart, North Miami and Wabash also discussed possibly moving to another conference. According to the email, Peru explored the idea last year of joining the TRC, but the eight current member schools didn’t want a nine-team conference, namely because of scheduling. The principals and athletic directors in the TRC desire to look into adding two schools, making the conference a 10-member league to strengthen the conference and to protect it from dropping to six or seven schools in the future if schools decided to leave. According to the email from Burkhart, the TRC would not accept one of the new schools without the other. Maconaquah and Peru have a deadline of April 1 to respond to the invitation. If the schools do accept the invitation, they would join the TRC beginning in the 2015-16 school year. The eight current members of the TRC are Manchester, Northfield, North Miami, Rochester, Southwood, Tippecanoe Valley, Wabash and Whitko.
