No injuries were reported in an accident in Mentone Thursday morning that involved two semi-tractor-trailers and a train. Around 9:20 a.m., near the intersection of Ind. 25 and Ind. 19, a Norfolk and Southern train operated by Joseph Liggion collided with a semi driven by William Phillips III, 36, of Mooresville. Phillips' semi spun around and hit a semi driven by Joseph Yocum, 28, of Mentone. The train and tracks sustained no damage in the accident, but Phillips' cab and trailer sustained extensive damage.Yocum's semi received damage to the trailer but not the cab. The train, which was about 7,900 feet long and heading from Chicago to Fort Wayne, was traveling between 20 and 25 miles per hour. Although there was no damage to the tracks, the accident took down gate arms and stop signs, which have been reset. Cleanup from the collision took about an hour and a half. The Mentone Police Department, Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department, Mentone Fire Department and Mentone EMS responded to the scene of the crash.
