NORTH WEBSTER - North Webster Town Council heard Tuesday about the town’s new proposed trail and sidewalk, livesteaming its meetings and an event to take place in North Webster next month.
The new trail plan is coming along, said President Dan Thystrup. He had a meeting with USI Consulting and the plan is “ready.” Now it must go before the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) to see if there’s any changes.
“It in the works,” said Thyrsrup. “It is up to INDOT to approve it and make any changes. It’s moving along on track.”
He said it is on “NIPSCO timeline now” and it may not start until 2029, although it could be sooner.
Due to the fact that council meetings needs to be livestreamed, due to a new law, they will be posted on the town’s website, once it is completed. The town has set up a Zoom account, said Clerk-Treasurer LeighAnne Jessop, and meetings will be put on a YouTube account and she will set up a Facebook account in order to post the agendas and the minutes of meetings, along with a recording of the meetings, until the website gets going, she said. The new website will eventually be on in.gov.
In the meantime, the board agreed to purchase an Owl system that will cost $985.48 in order to videotape meetings in the future; the last two meetings have been taped in accordance with the law.
