Police have released the name of a Warsaw man killed in a Friday afternoon accident.
James C. Dunwell, 50, 1812 Woodfield Trail, Warsaw, was killed in a one-car accident on Ind. 15 near the Wabash-Kosciusko County line. According to police reports, the truck suddenly veered off the road, hit a tree head-on and caught on fire.
Preliminary investigations reveal that Dunwell was killed by the impact of the truck hitting the tree, said Kosciusko County Coroner Larry Ladd. Dunwell probably died prior to his truck bursting into flames, Ladd said.
A witness told authorities he stopped and tried to get Dunwell out of the burning truck but was unable to help because of the flames.
The accident remains under investigaton by the coroner's office and the Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department.
