Traffic Stop Leads To Meth Bust

Posted
WINONA LAKE - A traffic stop led to the discovery of a working methamphetamine lab Monday night in Winona Lake.

Winona Lake Police Officer Brad Kellar saw a car with a temporary plate that had been altered. When Kellar stopped the car on Argonne Road near the intersection with Jefferson Street, he learned that the driver, Leonard Charles Greer, had a suspended license.

Greer, 21, of 1202 Wooster Road, Winona Lake, was arrested for driving while suspended, driving with an altered temporary plate and manufacturing methamphetamine. His bond was set at $10,000.

While making the stop, Kellar allegedly saw ammunition in plain sight in the vehicle so he asked the occupants of the car to get out and then asked the driver for identification.

Kellar then asked Warsaw Police Cpl. Joel Beam to come to the scene with his K-9 to sniff the car.

The dog made a positive alert at the car, and officers reportedly found items used to manufacture methamphetamine, and a one-pot meth lab was found inside the vehicle.

The Kosciusko County Drug Task Force and the Indiana State Police lab team were called to the scene.

Information about the incident has been forwarded to the Kosciusko County Prosecutor's Office, and more arrests are likely.
