PIERCTON – A weekend traffic stop for a false license plate led to an arrest for methamphetamine.
Pierceton Police Department Officer Matthew D. Owens noticed a suspicious vehicle at the Shell station, located at the intersection of Ind. 13 and U.S. 30, at approximately 3:15 a.m. Friday.
The officer waited for the vehicle to leave and ran the plate. The plate, which was on a 1993 Camaro, was registered to a black 1999 Oldsmobile. The vehicle also had two other equipment violations, window tint too dark and no license plate light.
When Owens stopped the vehicle near Third and Tower streets in Pierceton, the driver, Allen Wayne Clark, of 5 EMS B60A Lane, Warsaw, made several inconsistent statements.
During a consent and inventory search, several items commonly used in the manufacture of methamphetamine were located.
A field test revealed that a clear liquid tested positive for methamphetamine.
Clark was arrested and booked into the Kosciusko County Jail, charged with manufacturing methamphetamine and possession of precursors for the manufacture of methamphetamine. Bond was set at $10,000.
The Pierceton Police Department was assisted at the scene by the Winona Lake Police Department, the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department and the Indiana State Police.
