A traffic stop by Warsaw Police landed two men in Kosciusko County Jail on methamphetamine and marijuana charges.
Jerrod W. Turpen, 27, of 539 Buck Trail, Warsaw, and Anthony James Geib, 27, of 340 E. Levi Lee Road, Warsaw, are both being held on $2,000 bond.
Just after midnight on Sunday, Warsaw police made a traffic stop on a black Chrysler PT Cruiser for driving on Parker Street near U.S. 30 with no headlights on.
As the officer spoke with the driver, Turpen, he observed the odor of alcohol and had him perform sobriety tests. After the officer noticed several knives in plain sight, Turpen gave consent to search the vehicle.
Under both front seats were several baggies of marijuana, and multiple burned marijuana cigarettes were found in the cup holder. Further investigation found that Turpen had given a false name to the officers and a baggy of methamphetamine was found on him.
The passenger, Geib, was also found to have a prescription bottle on him with another person’s name on it.
Turpen was transported to Kosciusto Commnity Hospital for chemical testing. He was then transported to Kosciusko County Jail on preliminary charges of felony possession of marijuana with a prior conviction, and also on driving while suspended with a prior offense.
Geib was booked on felony charges of possession of methamphetamine and possession of marijuana with a prior conviction, and also charged with false informing. Additional charges are expected on Turpen pending the results of the chemical testing for driving under the influence of alcohol.
Charges are also pending on Geib for the possession of a scheduled narcotic.
