Traffic Panel Reviews Meijer Traffic Plan

Plan Commission To Review Development Plan In August

Warsaw Traffic Safety Commission reviewed a traffic plan for Meijer during Wednesday’s meeting.

The commission approved making a recommendation to Warsaw Plan Commission for closing two ingress and egress lanes to Shamrock Mobile Home Park on the south side of Anchorage Road due to the conflict of the right-in turn lane.

There will still be two ingress and egress lanes at the mobile home park.

The plan commission will review the recommendation and development plan at its August meeting.

The traffic plan includes the widening of CR 200N from Biomet Drive to U.S. 30 and includes a designated left-turn lane.

Meijer also will make improvements to Anchorage Road at Ind. 15. There will be restriping for a left-turn lane and signal changes that will go along with traffic lights at Anchorage Road and U.S. 30.

Traffic Commission member Kip Shuter asked city planner Jeremy Skinner if the mobile home owner is aware of the recommendation to close two of the ingress and egress lanes at the mobile home park.

Skinner said he will need to notify the mobile home owner, who will have an opportunity to voice concerns at the plan commission meeting.

Skinner said if the egress and ingress closures are approved, there would still be adequate room for emergency vehicles to access the mobile home park.

Michael Diamente, Abonmarche Engineering office director, attended Wednesday’s meeting and said Meijer has authorized the company to submit plans for Meijer to Indiana Department of Transportation and it has done so.

“We are requesting INDOT’s approval of preliminary plans so we can do final engineering such as erosion control plans,” Diamente said.
In other business, the commission approved 60-degree angle parking striping for the city parking lot on South Buffalo Street.

The commission also approved sending a recommendation to the city council to develop an ordinance for no parking on the north side of Prairie Street between Buffalo and Union streets.

The commission also approved accepting a recommendation from INDOT to allow a right turn and right-through lane south of the intersection of Parker Street and U.S. 30.

The commission also approved a right turn on red sign for the northeast corner of the intersection of Parker Street and U.S. 30.

Skinner informed the commission he attended the Prospect Hill neighborhood meeting Tuesday night and met with residents of the neighborhood. He said in the near future he will present information to the commission on no-parking issues in the area.
